LUZCO Technologies, a woman and minority-owned engineering project management firm, has received the 2018 Adelante Award for Hispanic Emerging Business of the Year from the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis. The award recognizes organizations that provide the entrepreneurial leadership required for long term success, offer innovative products or services, experienced steady employment and/or sales growth and contribute to the advancement of the Hispanic Community in particular and the larger community in general.
LUZCO Technologies launched in 2017 committed to providing best-in-class service to its clients while supporting women and minority professionals, particularly those working in science, technology, engineering and math. In less than a year, LUZCO has grown from one client to many and recently added its ninth full-time employee. “Adelante means forward and that’s where LUZCO is going,” said founder Lusnail (Lus) Rondon Haberberger, a Venezuelan-American, who moved to the United States to pursue an education and career in electrical engineering. “We’re to receive this award which recognizes our tremendous growth as a company and celebrates our deep commitment to the community.”
For more than a decade, Ms. Haberberger gained experience as a professional electrical engineer and seasoned project manager for large-scale infrastructure projects. She knew bringing together a team with varied experiences and skill sets would give her clients the deep well of knowledge they deserve. Now, as her business grows, she is finding ways to support involved others through mentorship in science, math, engineering, entrepreneurship and work-life balance.
“LUZCO’s strong growth shows its fills an important niche in the city’s growing STEM business community,” Haberberger said. “Our culture shows the power of minority entrepreneurs to bring diversity to the corners where it is most sorely needed.”
